Community Midwifery Care Laboratory

The purpose of this course is for students to gain the necessary knowledge regarding the basic concepts on midwifery care in community, to be able to apply midwifery care in community and recognise factors that affect health in the community, as well as to understand the special needs of women in community that need midwifery care. Finally, students should be able to design midwifery health care plans and to intervene on a case-by-case basis.

The practical (laboratory) part of the course will include the application of ways and methods of programs for the prompt update and control of women in matters of health education in the community, as well as in matters referring to motherhood. Students will operate in facilities such as IKA (Institute of social insurances), Bodosakeio Hospital, private midwifery clinics, kindergartens, and family planning offices.

Information campaigns and health education in schools, as part of the practice in Community Midwifery Care at the Health Centre in Amyntaio. Health Education in primary schools, lower secondary and upper secondary schools include personal hygiene rules, the reproductive system, and sexually transmitted diseases. Students participate in additional precautionary programs hosted by the Health Centre in Amyntaio, such as preventive dentistry and vaccination programs.
