The Department of Midwifery of the School of Health Sciences of the University of Western Macedonia is based in Ptolemaida. The Department started operating in October 2009 in the new facilities created to serve its purposes. It fully covers the scientific and technological training of the department’s graduates in the fields of obstetrics, gynecology, neonatology, professional ethics, family planning, sexual education, research, prevention and health education.
The Department’s mission is to promote the development and transmission of knowledge in the technology and science of Midwifery as well as in teaching and applied research. The Department’s mission further involves the provision of the necessary resources that will ensure the students’ thorough education/training for their scientific and professional career development.
